We look forward to meeting you at your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment needs are different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve.
Your first orthodontic visit will consist of an examination and discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will address your orthodontic needs to determine if this is the proper time to begin treatment. Once you have called and scheduled this initial appointment, you should receive some paperwork to complete and bring with you to the office.
The clinical examination will disclose visual findings, and the doctor will make treatment recommendations. If orthodontic treatment is indicated, a series of digital photographs and X-rays will be taken and discussed. We will also discuss with you the next steps are and how we can make orthodontic treatment affordable within your budget. For our patients who are 12 or older, you can expect to spend about one hour with us during this comprehensive first visit.
The preliminary examination will result in one of three outcomes:
- The patient is not ready or may not need treatment and is placed on recall (Development Supervision) to be seen at a later date.
- The orthodontic treatment will be of a limited nature at this time and appointments will be scheduled for construction and fitting of appliances.
- If the problem appears to warrant comprehensive orthodontic therapy, full diagnostic records will be necessary.
After we have evaluated your records, we conduct a treatment consultation to explain all aspects of your treatment in detail. We will provide a complete clinical diagnosis regarding the nature of the problem, a written summary of the findings, and a detailed plan that outlines your treatment goals and estimated fees. We encourage questions from both the patient and the parent, and as such, we provide ample time to answer your questions.
